Engineering capstone support

Engineering capstone project review

Independent mentor feedback on requirements, architecture, risk, prototypes, validation, and the evidence behind technical decisions.

The purpose

Make the engineering argument visible.

An engineering capstone is more than a working object. Review should connect the problem, requirements, design trade-offs, safety and implementation risks, validation method, and results. StudyLabX is planning milestone-based reviews that help students identify gaps while keeping every design decision and deliverable student-owned.

Best for
Hardware, embedded, IoT, mechanical, electrical, multidisciplinary, and systems projects.
Planned entry
Architecture & Roadmap from an indicative CAD 299.
Review evidence
Requirements, diagrams, calculations, risk records, test plans, results, and limitations.
Status
Pre-launch preview. No applications or payments are accepted.

Review lenses

Technical feedback at the decisions that matter.

01

Requirements

Check whether the requirements are measurable, traceable, realistic, and connected to stakeholder needs.

02

Architecture

Compare interfaces, constraints, failure points, alternatives, and the reasons behind the selected design.

03

Validation

Connect each important claim to a test, calculation, inspection, demonstration, or documented limitation.

What review can cover

A review that asks for reasoning, not cosmetic polish.

The mentor may examine system boundaries, assumptions, component selection, interface definitions, tolerance or capacity arguments, safety considerations, prototype limitations, and test coverage. Feedback identifies questions and corrective actions; it does not replace the student's calculations, build, report, or assessment.

Where a project includes software or AI, the review can also connect code quality, datasets, model evaluation, deployment constraints, and reproducibility to the broader engineering case.

  • Requirements traceability and acceptance criteria
  • Architecture diagrams and interface risks
  • Prototype and integration checkpoints
  • Verification and validation planning
  • Evidence gaps and defence questions
